Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has criticised a decision made by Liverpool during the 2025 summer transfer window.
The Reds spent big over the summer, with their most recent additions having pretty mixed starts to life at Anfield.
Hugo Ekitike has been praised, scoring six goals already this season following a move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, Florian Wirtz’s form has been questioned, while fans are yet to see much of the injury-hit Alexander Isak on the back of his record-breaking deal.

Roy Keane thinks Liverpool will regret not signing Marc Guehi
Liverpool tried to sign Marc Guehi in the most recent window, reportedly making a £35m offer.
However, the centre-back remained on the Eagles’ books, a decision Keane thinks is now looking worse for the Reds.

Speaking alongside Jamie Carragher on the latest episode of Stick to Football, he said: “They’ll regret that decision as well with Guehi in the summer, won’t they?”.
Carragher responded: “Oh, it’s a bad mistake,” with the former Utd captain replying: “That looks worse now the more you look at it.”
Liverpool’s defensive record this season has been poor, conceding 17 in their opening 11 matches of a league campaign for the first time since 2020/21 under Jurgen Klopp.
Whether or not Guehi could have made a difference to that stat remains to be seen, but it’s become clear that fans want a centre-back signed as soon as possible.

Liverpool can make up for Marc Guehi transfer mistake with latest update
While it’s hard to argue with Keane’s view, Liverpool could rectify their mistake as early as January following a fresh update this week.
The stopper is expected to leave Selhurst Park on a free transfer in the summer of 2026.
One Spanish journalist has suggested this week that, amid interest from Barcelona, Guehi to Liverpool is ‘pretty much secured’.
Meanwhile, another has claimed the Reds could try to sign the Crystal Palace defender in the 2026 winter transfer window without any opposition.
Mike Wedderburn said: “Crystal Palace believe that Liverpool are the only club that may attempt to buy Marc Guehi in January, despite interest from Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid.”
Signing Guehi would be a major boost for the Reds, easing concerns Keane had about failing to land the England international this summer.
