A disgruntled Travis Kelce has called on his Kansas City Chiefs teammates to stop pointing fingers and 'look themselves in the mirror' amid the team's struggles this season.

Sunday's 22-19 loss to the Denver Broncos saw the Chiefs fall to 5-5 for the first time since 2015, leaving them down in the unfamiliar position of third in the AFC West.

It is strange territory for a team that has never lost more than six games with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback. Another defeat at home to the in-form Indianapolis Colts this weekend will see them level that unwanted tally with six regular-season games still to play.

After their latest setback against Denver, Kelce was quizzed about Kansas City's plight by older brother Jason on the latest episode of their New Heights podcast Wednesday.

'A bunch of flags all over the place. Whether it was procedural penalties, which is the f***ing most frustrating thing ever, or holding penalties, which some I’m here for. Others I’m just like, "What are we even doing?" And obviously putting up touchdowns instead of field goals, man…' Travis fumed.

'It’s frustrating because it’s got to the point where we’re 5-5, we’re .500 going into the back end of the schedule here. Got seven games left, and we’ve basically got to run the table. And I haven’t been in this situation in a long, long time, man…

The legendary tight end spoke about Kansas City's 5-5 record, which is their worst since 2015

'It's even more frustrating knowing the kind of guys we have and the kind of talent we have, knowing the coaches that we have. Everybody's got to look themselves in the mirror man. You can't sit around pointing fingers.

'Whatever you go into mentally when you're frustrated, you've got to kick that s*** aside and think about how you're gonna attack the day, and you've got to put all that selfish s***, all those things you want for yourself aside and it's just got to be about this team and the guy next to you - and you've got to have fun doing it man.'

After Travis spoke about the tough challenge of facing the 8-2 Colts on Sunday, Jason argued that this year's Chiefs team is stronger than last year's, despite that outfit going 15-2 in the regular season and reaching a third straight Super Bowl.

'It feels like it's all self-inflicting, and it feels like the answers are right there in front of us,' the Kansas City tight end added. 'We've just got to f***ing do it.'

Specifically, Kelce believes the former back-to-back Super Bowl champions need to work on 'where we're going offensive line wise, in terms of blocking' while calling on their receivers to increase the 'urgency' when Mahomes has the ball.

'We’ve got to get going, we got to run,' he insisted. 'We’ve got to make sure that we’re on time knowing Pat’s under duress.'

Nevertheless, Kelce has no doubts about the talent in the building at Arrowhead, both from a playing and coaching standpoint.

He concluded: 'The concern isn't with, "Do we have the guys? Do we have the coaches? Do we have the right people in the building?" I have all the faith that we've got all the guys that we need.

'We just need to turn it up a notch; the accountability, the details. I’m right here raising my hand saying, "I need to get my s*** right." That should be the mentality of everybody that steps in this f***ing building, and there needs to be a sense of urgency to get that s*** done and to be proficient with how you’re getting it done.

'I got a lot of faith in the guys in this building. I know I’m gonna go to war for them.'
