He will have one-year remaining on his five-year deal after the 2025 NFL season ends. The Giants have a 2-9 record this season and it remains to be seen if ownership will even want to bring him back after the season ends. If New York for some strange reason decides to keep Schoen after the 2025 season, there will be many fans who will not be happy, and they will continue to blame ownership for the poor performances on the field.

Giants espn.com writer Jordan Raanan wrote in his latest column who is going to help out Schoen in the next head coach. Raanan said,

“By firing Daboll with seven remaining, it provides the Giants a head start to the process. Among those who league sources expect to be involved in the search for the Giants are Schoen, Chris Mara, John Mara, Steve Tisch and Tim McDonnell. John Mara and Tisch are likely to oversee the search. Schoen is expected to compile the list of candidates with input from others.

All except Schoen are ownership. McDonnell is the nephew of Chris and John Mara and the team’s director of player personnel. McDonnell is not new to the coaching pursuit — he texted with Brian Flores in 2022, then a candidate for the Giants head coaching job that eventually went to Daboll, during their previous search.”

There are a lot of Giants fans who will not be happy about ownership meddling in about finding the next head coach. Mara has meddled into a lot of football decisions lately. Ownership was the one who decided to fire Daboll and not Schoen himself.

Mara’s nepotism and poor football decisions have been one of the reasons why New York has been a laughingstock in the NFL over the last decade. Him being majorly involved in the new head coaching search is one of the reasons why this fanbase wants him to sell the team.
