The New York Giants will be looking for a new head coach once again after firing Brian Daboll. New York has not had a lot of success with head coaches after Tom Coughlin.

The head coaches that this team has had after his firing were Ben McAdoo, Joe Judge, Pat Shurmur, and Daboll. Steve Spagnuolo was an interim head coach and Mike Kafka is now an interim head coach. There has been a lot of dysfunctions with the coaching since Coughlin left. One potential name to watch out for in the next head coaching search is Jon Gruden.

Gruden on Twitter has commented about how much he loves Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart. He has not been a head coach in the NFL since the 2021 season with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was also a consultant with the New Orleans Saints during the 2023 NFL season.
Well, Jordan Raanan of espn.com wrote about the different candidates that the Giants could potentially be looking at for their next head coach. Raanan said,
“Among those that seem destined for interviews are Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo and former Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce, according to a league source. All three have past connections to the Giants organization.
But the search won’t exclusively be limited to those with Giants connections. It’s early but the process, but there are some names who have been mentioned in conversations with people around the league, including some combination of top coordinators (Chargers’ Jesse Minter, Rams’ Chris Shula and Packers’ Jeff Hafley are names to watch) and former head coaches such as Mike McCarthy, Jon Gruden, Matt Nagy and Vance Joseph.
Also keep an eye on the outside possibility of college coaches such as Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman and Iowa State’s Matt Campbell, who is someone multiple sources said the Giants have done background work on in recent years, entering the mix.”
With Gruden’s name being in the mix, it could be very interesting. He is no doubt a polarizing name. As a head coach in the NFL, his record is 117-112. Gruden has proven to be successful in the NFL with the Raiders and also the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well.
The Giants need a polarizing figure in the room and a culture changer. Gruden would provide accountability inside New York’s locker room. This would no doubt be a very interesting hire for New York if they decided to go this route here.
