The Philadelphia Eagles are 8-2 on the season, and have held the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions to a combined 16 points over their last two games. Despite that, their offense continues to be a problem, as it has scored just 26 points over those two games.
The internal issues are well-reported in Philadelphia, as wide receiver A.J. Brown has vocalized his frustrations all season with the offense and his lack of impact.
Joining 94WIP Sports Radio, former Eagles center Jason Kelce commented on the tension within the offense, saying that it builds up over time.
"I think that there are frustrations within a team that build up continually," Kelce said. "And I think Jalen gets a lot of the highlighting of that because he's the quarterback."
Kelce then tells a story about how he and Lane Johnson didn't speak for an entire offseason because of a fight they had, and in telling the story, Kelce gets visibly emotional.
"Me and Lane Johnson one year, at the end of Chip Kelly's career, Lane made a comment in the media and said something along the lines of, 'The up tempo offense is way too hard on us in practice and we're working too difficult and guys are getting fatigued.' And I remember reading that... and I went out and said something in the media and said, "What does Lane know? Lane's only been with the Philadelphia Eagles. How does he knows what it feels like to do other practices? He's only practiced with Chip Kelly...'
"Lane then made another comment. Lane and I didn't talk for an entire offseason. Lane is like one of my best friends. Like I love that guy. And this is part of being on a team. There are so many ups and downs... this thing brings out emotions and sides of people because you all want to win so bad..."
Kelce adds that the only way the Eagles can solve the issues they have is by being accountable and talking it out. He also says that Hurts' body of work speaks for itself and can't be denied.
The ongoing issues with A.J. Brown and Hurts, as well as any other offensive players who have grown frustrated with Hurts and the offense as a whole, do need to find a way to fix these problems before the postseason starts, or it could be the thing that keeps them from getting back to the Super Bowl.
