Tyrod Taylor isn't the only former Baltimore Raven taking on the team that drafted him this weekend.
New York Jets cornerback Brandon Stephens is also making his return to Baltimore; the Ravens drafted Stephens 104th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The former SMU product downplayed the prospect of a revenge game, though, and wanted to turn the focus on the Jets' performance on Sunday.
Brandon Stephens downplays return to Baltimore
"Yeah I'm excited about it. Honestly, I haven’t thought too much about playing there," Stephens told the press on Wednesday.
"It’s just been mainly focusing on the game plan and whatnot. It’ll be a good opportunity for all of us."
Stephens has had an up-and-down start to his Jets tenure since signing a three-year $36 million deal in free agency last spring.
So far in 2025, he's allowed a 117.1 passer rating when targeted, according to Jet X Factor, but is seeing just 4.6 targets and allowing 29 yards per game.
After a rough start to the year, Stephens has stabilized as a cover corner, providing New York's secondary a boost after the departure of Sauce Gardner.
He'll have his work cut out for him on Sunday when the Jets take on two-time MVP Lamar Jackson, and despite his comments, there will likely be a chip on his shoulder to prove to the team that let him walk in free agency that he was worth hanging onto.
They'll need all the help they can get to pull the upset off over the red-hot Ravens.
