Eberechi Eze Names The 1 Arsenal Player Who Has Been“Beyond Expectations”Since He Joined

Eberechi Eze has said that one Arsenal player surpassed his expectations since he joined from Crystal Palace in the summer.

The Gunners are heading out of the international break with a four point lead at the top of the Premier League table over Manchester City. They go into their next game against rivals Tottenham with the chance to extend their lead if City drop points at Newcastle.

Mikel Arteta will be delighted with the way his team are playing both defensively and in attack this season. Much of the Arsenal boss’ success has been down to the summer signings, with Eberechi Eze an example of a great addition.

Eze has made 16 appearances since making the move from Palace to Arsenal for £60m in the summer, scoring two goals, and providing three assists. He already knew a lot of the players from the England set-up, playing with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice for the national team.

Eze says Timber has exceeded expectations at Arsenal

Coming into the squad, Eze would have had a good idea of what a lot of the Arsenal players would be like to play with, but he said in a recent interview that one name was much better than he first thought, and that was defender Jurrien Timber.

Eze was quoted in the Metro this week, he said: “Everyone is sort of what you expect them to be. The expectation of all the players is high. I’ll say one player who has gone even beyond the high expectation I already had – because I’d heard good things about him – was Jurrien Timber. He’s a special player and a special guy.

“I think for me, in an environment of people and you have a culture that is geared towards improving, these guys all want to improve. So for me it’s a pleasure to be part of it and to see guys like him who perform the way they perform, who carry themselves the way they carry themselves. It’s inspiring, for sure.”

Timber has made 11 Premier League appearances so far this season for Arsenal, scoring two goals, and providing one assist. He has become a mainstay in Arteta’s XI, making the right-back spot his own, and Eze clearly recognises that.
