Newcastle United v Man City - Joe Buck preview
Newcastle United v Man City: Injury news from both camps as Eddie Howe and Pep Guardiola’s sides square-off.
Newcastle United host Manchester City at St James’ Park on Saturday (5:30pm kick-off) aiming to banish the demons of back-to-back defeats they suffered before the international break. However, they will have to do that without one of their key players as Dan Burn serves a one-match ban.
Eddie Howe could have a couple of key players back in contention this weekend, however, as injury issues on Tyneside begin to subside. Manchester City, meanwhile, have few concerns to deal with and may head to the north east with doubts over just two players.
Here, we take a look at the latest injury and suspension news from both camps ahead of Newcastle United’s clash with Manchester City at St James’ Park.
Manchester City injury news v Newcastle United
Mateo Kovacic - out
An ankle injury will keep the Croatian out of action this weekend. Guardiola admitted earlier this month that the midfielder will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Rodri - doubt
The former Ballon D’Or winner did not join up with the Spain squad during the most recent international break for their matches against Georgia and Turkey. Rodri also didn’t feature in City’s win over Liverpool before the international break after suffering a thigh injury. He could be back in action this weekend, though.

Newcastle United injury and suspension news v Manchester City
Dan Burn - out
Burn will serve a one-match ban this weekend after being sent off against Brentford last time out. The Magpies man was shown two yellow cards at the Gtech Community Stadium and won’t feature against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Yoane Wissa - out
Wissa has been sidelined with a PCL injury ever since his move from Brentford on deadline day. He is yet to feature for the Magpies but has been stepping up his recovery process from that injury. It is hoped that he will be able to make his debut for his new club in the coming weeks.
Tino Livramento - doubt
Livramento suffered a knee injury against Arsenal in September and an eight week timescale on his return was pencilled in by the club. The former Southampton man has returned to work on the grass and could be back in action sooner rather than later. Only time will tell, though, if Saturday's game comes too early for him.
Anthony Gordon - doubt
Gordon suffered a hip injury before the international break, one that ruled him out of Newcastle’s defeat to Brentford as well as England duty. Sky Sports reported that Gordon was back in training on Tyneside earlier this week, although it’s too early to tell if he will be deemed fit enough to feature this weekend.
Will Osula - doubt
Osula was withdrawn from Newcastle United’s matchday squad just minutes before they took to the pitch to take part in a warm up ahead of their win over Athletic Club earlier this month. An ankle injury, one that Osula has been managing over the last few weeks, was given as the reason for his withdrawal and he remains a doubt to feature this weekend.
