Browns season not a surprise after players drinking at practice

The Cleveland Browns seemed destined to be one of the worst teams in the NFL for the rest of their existence as a franchise. There was some hope in Cleveland that things could turn around this season, after an abysmal campaign a year ago, but it has just been more of the same fecklessness.

This season has once again been a revolving door at the quarterback position. The Browns are on their third starting quarterback of the season, after veteran Joe Flacco failed to get anything going and Dillon Gabriel, who also struggled, suffered a concussion in last week’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

If history has shown us anything, it’s that the Browns will probably lose this weekend as well, considering no Browns quarterback has ever won his first career start.

The Browns head into this weekend’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders at 2-8, tied for the second-worst record in the NFL. In retrospect, the signs of this team being completely inept were evident as early as training camp, when players were openly drinking at practice.

“They’d be CUT immediately from my team,” another person added,” one fan wrote on Twitter at the time.

Most franchises probably would reprimand their players for literally drinking during practice time, but then why would the Browns ever operate like a winning franchise? It simply isn’t in their DNA.

It’ll be interesting to see if the culture ever changes in Cleveland or if Browns fans are destined to do this for the rest of their lives. As things stand, it’ll be surprising if this franchise ever even comes close to sniffing a Super Bowl.
