Liverpool officially confirm two rescheduled January fixtures

Liverpool’s two Premier League fixtures in late January have been rescheduled to evening kick-offs.

The Reds will round off the month with a trip to Bournemouth on January 24, followed by a home clash against Newcastle United on January 31.

Those league games fall either side of their Champions League tie at Anfield against Azerbaijani minnows Qarabag on January 28.

Arne Slot’s side began the Premier League campaign with the reverse fixtures against Bournemouth and Newcastle.

They opened the season with a 4-2 win over Andoni Iraola’s Cherries, secured by late goals from Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah, before Rio Ngumoha struck a dramatic 100th-minute winner to seal a 3-2 victory at St James’ Park.

Liverpool will travel to the Vitality Stadium for a 5:30pm kick-off on Saturday, January 24, with the match broadcast live on Sky Sports.

The champions claimed a 2-0 win on the south coast last season en route to the title, thanks to a Salah brace.

Combined with their victory at Anfield in August, Liverpool have now won 13 of their last 14 meetings with Bournemouth.

After hosting Qarabag in the final match of the Champions League league phase, Liverpool will then welcome Newcastle to Anfield for an 8pm kick-off on Saturday, January 31.

The reverse fixture at St James’ Park earlier this season was played amid escalating anger from Newcastle fans over Liverpool’s transfer pursuit of Alexander Isak.

The Sweden striker will now return to Anfield for the first time since completing his British-record £125 million move.

Newcastle’s record at Anfield makes grim reading.

They have not won there since a League Cup tie in 1995, while their last Premier League victory at the ground came a year earlier.
