Could a Georgia Bulldogs reunion be in the works for the Atlanta Falcons?
There are a lot of things that would have to happen, but Atlanta radio jock Matt Chernoff of "Chuck and Chernoff" has an idea that could reunite former Bulldogs offensive coordinator Todd Monken with two-time CFP championship quarterback Stetson Bennett.
Looking ahead to next season with Michael Penix Jr. out with an ACL injury, Chernoff imagines firing Raheem Morris, hiring Todd Monken as Falcons head coach, putting Stetson Bennett at QB, and reuniting former Georgia national champions to bring excitement back to Atlanta. 👀🔥… pic.twitter.com/NzsWY52PWT

Is Todd Monken up for head coaching jobs?
There's a good chance that Monken, currently the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, will have some interested parties in both college and the NFL. I believe Monken would be an interesting name at Penn State if he chose the college route, but if he stays in the pros, he could probably interview for any opening given the overall success of the Ravens offense since he got there in 2023. Monken is 59, so if he's going to take a head coaching job, now would be the time.
Would Monken be a fit in Atlanta if Raheem Morris were to be fired? There's a very good chance he would be considered. The Falcons have a young offense with quarterback Michael Penix, running back Bijan Robinson and wide receiver Drake London. He would likely be very interested in working with that trio.
"I want Michael Penix around somebody I think he's super stable, super creative and I think Todd Monken can check all those boxes," Chernoff said.
Would the Falcons pursue Bennett at QB?
"Bring Stetson here with Todd Monken, who has already worked with him, already knows him. It's a short-term look," Chernoff added.
That's probably not happening next year. Chernoff is basing his opinion on Penix not recovering from his torn ACL to start the 20226 season. These days, recoveries from that sort of injury are 7–9 months, so Penix would return late in training camp or right at the start of preseason barring any setbacks.
It's likely that Monken, Morris or whomever the Falcons' coach is would opt for an experienced backup if Penix couldn't start the season. Bennett hasn't taken a snap in the NFL yet and Monken would not be advised to start a season with an inexperienced quarterback, regardless of how short-term it is,
Plus, under Chernoff's scenario, the Rams drafted a QB in the first round, which means former Bulldog Matthew Stafford will likely retire. In that case, the Rams would keep Bennett on the roster because he has three years in Sean McVay's system and offers stablity behind the new quarterback.
Genuinely have no words about this TD from Stetson Bennett. Would not have expected this throw from the Rams QB a year ago.
It's pure perfection.
The confidence in this throw...Puts it on a rope and fits the ball between the CB and closing safety. pic.twitter.com/O2X5PvqwiT
