Liverpool are hoping to welcome back several key players from injury as they prepare to return to Premier League action this weekend. The Reds will be hosting Forest at Anfield on Saturday afternoon - aiming to get back on the winning track in the top flight.

Arne Slot's team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium before the international break. This loss leaves Liverpool in eighth place in the Premier League table, but they have an opportunity to climb the ranks when they face off against Forest this weekend.

Throughout much of the season, Liverpool have been grappling with numerous injury issues, and this will continue to be the case for Saturday's match against Forest. Alexander Isak has missed the Reds' last five matches but was part of the squad for the Man City game - suggesting he could make a return to the starting line-up this weekend.

Jeremie Frimpong has been out of action for the past few weeks due to a hamstring injury, but is anticipated to make a comeback soon. However, Slot recently conceded that the Dutch international might still be a doubt for the Forest match.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker has also been absent from Liverpool's line-up due to a muscle injury.

The Reds are hopeful that the Brazilian will be fit for the clash with Forest, but until Slot provides an update, it's uncertain whether Alisson will be guarding the goal at Anfield on Saturday.

When Slot was asked by journalists about injuries earlier this month, he said: "Alisson for sure. And I expect Jeremie back after the international break as well because we play from November until March.

"But I don't expect Jeremie to be fully fit for Forest. But with Alisson, we expect this, yes."

Liverpool's Giovanni Leoni continues to be sidelined long-term due to a knee injury he sustained in September.

Forest have also been grappling with a lengthy injury list throughout the season. Chris Wood has been nursing a knee injury but might recover in time to play against Liverpool.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, who missed the victory over Leeds due to a leg injury, could make a comeback to the squad for the Liverpool match.

The availability of Douglas Luiz and Ola Aina, both struggling with hamstring injuries, for the trip to Merseyside is still uncertain.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is on the mend from a groin injury, while a knee problem has kept Angus Gunn out of action. Dilane Bakwa has also been unavailable due to an unspecified injury.
