The Green Bay Packers are in danger of not having running back Josh Jacobs for the Week 12 game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Jacobs suffered a knee injury in the Week 11 win over the New York Giants that led to his early exit from the contest. On Wednesday, Jacobs did not practice, and before that head coach Matt LaFleur labeled him as "day to day."
Jacobs spoke on his injury Thursday, when he returned to practice. He said the injury occurred on the second play of the game on Sunday and he removed himself from the contest in the second quarter because he was hurting the team.
The veteran running back would not commit to playing in Week 12, but he did note that the swelling in his knee is going away and he's working on getting his range of motion back. He reiterated the fact that he's truly day to day and wants to play.
"Josh Jacobs says 60% of his knee swelling is gone. Now about getting range of motion back," The Athletic's Matt Schneidman reported. "Said he’s truly day-to-day and wants to play Sunday. Got hurt on second play of game and left in second quarter when he felt he was hurting the team."
Jacobs added that if he does sit out in Week 12, he will definitely be back in Week 13.
"Josh Jacobs says worst-case scenario is he misses one game. He’s still trying to play Sunday against the Vikings. If he doesn’t, he was adamant he’s playing Thanksgiving in Detroit," Schneidman relayed.
Jacobs has never missed a game since coming to Green Bay, so this would be his first if he sits out.
If Jacobs doesn't play, Emmanuel Wilson will take the reins of the backfield, with Chris Brooks likely to spell him.
