One of Liverpool’s top priorities for the 2026 summer transfer window will be identifying a replacement for Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian King, 33, is out of contract in 2027 - but interest from Saudi Arabia is expected to reemerge. If Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes can bank a fee for Salah then plans can be put in place to sign a replacement.
Salah is a two-time African player of the year but time appears to be catching up with the legendary forward.
Several contenders to replace Mo Salah
Despite four Premier League goals so far this season, he hasn’t been the same force that he was in the 2024/25 title-winning campaign.
We have already encountered links with Michael Olise and Antoine Semenyo - and now reports are beginning to circulate about another potential Salah successor.
Raphinha is a player well known to Liverpool- being associated with a move to the Reds while at Leeds United. Since his move to Barcelona in 2022, the 28-year-old has become one of the best attackers on the planet.
Raphinha the subject of €100m Liverpool offer
Last season he was named LaLiga’s player of the year and also shared the Champions League top scorer award.
A two-time Spanish title winner, the Brazilian is under contract at Camp Nou until 2028. But owing to an unfavourable financial situation the hard-up Catalans could well consider a sale before then.
Fichajes is claiming that Liverpool will put up a bid of around €100m for Raphinha next summer in order to secure him as a Salah successor.
Raphinha already well adapted to the Premier League
The winger is just as comfortable on the left wing as he is on the right these days - with Lamine Yamal preferring to play on the right.
Both have suffered injury trouble this term with Raphinha sitting out Barca’s last six LaLiga matches with a hamstring injury.
Still he has managed to rack up three goals and two assists in only 384 league minutes.
Furthermore Raphinha will take next to no time to adapt to life in the Premier League given the two seasons he spent at Elland Road.
This therefore could be a €100m signing which ticks every box for Richard Hughes and Arne Slot.
