It’s been a rough start to the 2025-26 NBA season for the Sacramento Kings (3-12). Frankie Cartoscelli, Brenden Nunes, and Chris Watkins joined Thursday’s edition of The Allen Stiles Show to discuss what’s been going wrong, if they should embrace their youth, and more.
Given the nature of their recent losses and an active seven-game skid, the guys debated the root of their issues. What are the strengths of their roster, and what could they lean into?
For example, rookie Nique Clifford played single-digit minutes in Wednesday’s loss in Oklahoma City. Should general manager Scott Perry clear a path for him to get more opportunities?

And with forward Keegan Murray expected to make his season debut Thursday, Clifford, Keon Ellis, and others could see even less run. If they were to aim for that direction, who should they look to trade, and what would a reasonable return be for the likes of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, etc?

All summer long, the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga were linked for a potential sign-and-trade that would send Kuminga to the state capitol in exchange for guard Malik Monk and the team’s 2030 first-round pick (lottery protected) to the Warriors,” according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.
That deal was turned down at the time because Golden State believed Kuminga’s talents, age, and potential warranted no protections on the pick, but Sacramento, who is notorious for having early to mid lottery picks, was in no rush to remove any chance of getting the superstar talent they so desperately have been searching for all of these years; thus no deal was made.
