Surprise Daniel Jones injury update puts Colts QB's Week 12 status in question

The Indianapolis Colts now have an injury concern with quarterback Daniel Jones ahead of the Week 12 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to the Colts' official injury report on Thursday, Jones was added with a calf issue and he was a limited participant.

Seeing as how he's a mid-week addition and was listed as limited, it appears that Jones suffered the injury at practice, although that hasn't been confirmed.

Nevertheless, this is obviously concerning for the Colts, who are where they are in 2025 in large part due to how well Jones has played this season.

If Jones can't suit up, the Colts will be forced to turn to either rookie Riley Leonard, who is on the 53-man roster, or veteran Brett Rypien, who is on the practice squad.

Neither one is a good option. We would assume Rypien might get the nod over Leonard given his advantage in experience.

Jones will have a few more days to get right and show he's healthy enough to play. Indy will drop its final injury report of the week on Friday but will likely take this up until gameday if Jones isn't cleared tomorrow.

After striking out with the New York Giants for various reasons, Jones has revived his career and has been a revelation for the Colts this season, completing 69.9% of his passes for 2,659 yards and 15 touchdowns to seven interceptions.

Jones ranks third in completion percentage and passing yards, eighth in QBR (66.4) and 10th in passer rating (101.6) in the NFL.
