JSN’s record chase: Track Seahawks WR’s progress toward NFL history

Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is making his third season in the NFL a historic one.

Smith-Njigba is on pace to break the NFL’s record for most receiving yards in a season.

That record, held by Detroit Lions Hall of Famer Calvin “Megatron” Johnson, was set in 2012 and sits at 1,964 yards (on 122 catches). That, of course, came in 16 games, while JSN has 17 games this season to break it.

Cooper Kupp, Smith-Njigba’s teammate, has the second-most receiving yards in a season with 1,947 yards (on 145 catches), which he accomplished with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, the NFL’s first season with 17 games.

Smith-Njigba is also closing in on DK Metcalf’s Seahawks record for most yards in a season; Metcalf gained 1,303 yards on 83 catches in 2020.

If Smith-Njigba — who was the first player in NFL history to have more than 75 yards in each of the first 10 games of a season — continues his current pace, he could score more than the NFL record.

We’ll track Smith-Njigba’s 2025 season here, where you can track how he’s pacing against those other record seasons.

Totals through Week 11:

1,146 receiving yards (1st in NFL) |

72 receptions (4th) | 5 TDs
