Antoine Semenyo is attracting significant transfer interest after it emerged that a release clause in his contract will become active in January.

Semenyo stayed on the south coast despite speculation over his future in the summer, signing a new contract with Bournemouth.

His new deal includes an exit route, with a release clause set at £60million plus £5million in add-ons, which becomes active during the January transfer window.

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the Bournemouth star as well as Liverpool.

Bournemouth will not be able to block a move if a club activates Semenyo’s release clause within the first two weeks of January and the forward wishes to leave.

The timing of Semenyo’s release clause is designed to give Bournemouth sufficient time to find a replacement should their star forward depart.

If Bournemouth continue to resist interest in the coming months, Semenyo could become available in the next transfer window, potentially for a lower fee.

Semenyo has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 12 games.

DaveOCKOP exclusively reported that Liverpool held preliminary talks with Bournemouth last weekend regarding a potential move for the 25-year-old.

Bournemouth general manager Tim Bezbatchenko earlier confirmed that the club would not stand in the way if Liverpool or Real Madrid were to make a move for Semenyo.

“When a club like Real Madrid, Liverpool, PSG come in and they’re competing for Champions League positions, who are we to say, ‘No, you can‘t go, you can‘t fulfil your dream,’” Bezbatchenko told the Business of Sport podcast.

“But there is an opportunity and everybody wins, right? I think that’s what we’re trying to find, this commonality where everybody can win.”

The latest on Liverpool’s pursuit of Antoine Semenyo

Now, DaveOCKOP can exclusively reveal that Liverpool held positive talks with the Cherries over a possible January move for Semenyo.

It is believed that Liverpool is Semenyo’s preferred destination should be leave Bournemouth. A move away now only seems a matter of time.

Semenyo would add even more firepower to Liverpool’s attack. His proven quality in the Premier League reduces any risk for the Reds knowing that they cannot lose many more games if they wish to challenge for major honours this season.
