The San Francisco 49ers (7-4) are gearing up for a matchup with the Carolina Panthers (6-5) on Sunday, which could potentially impact tiebreakers for the NFC Wild Card race.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan had nothing but positive things to say about Carolina's wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who has come on strong in his first season in the NFL.
When asked if McMillan caught his eye during the predraft process, Shanahan said, "Yes, big time."
Kyle Shanahan gushes over Panthers' Tetairoa McMillan
"I think he’s a stud. He’s going to be one of the best receivers in this league sooner than later," Shanahan continued.
"He’s got all the skill sets to do it and I think he's just getting started."
There's arguably no better offensive mind in the game of football than Shanahan, so it's certainly some high praise coming from him.
The Panthers selected the wideout eighth overall in this past April's draft out of the University of Arizona, and it's safe to say he's been Carolina's No. 1 wide receiver since day one.
Through 11 games this season, McMillan has hauled in 54 balls for 748 yards, catching four touchdowns as well.
He's been a welcome addition to Carolina's offense, helping third-year quarterback Bryce Young along as he continues to develop.
49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh likely has a game plan specifically for McMillan, given how much esteem and respect Shanahan has for the rookie wide receiver.
It will be a fun battle to watch on Sunday between McMillan and Niners cornerback Deommodore Lenoir.
