When news broke last week that the Buffalo Bills were making Keon Coleman a healthy scratch, it started to show the frustration that the Bills were having with Coleman, both on and off the field. With Coleman being out, that allowed someone like Tyrell Shavers to thrive as he had 4 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown. Gabe Davis also had some solid plays for Buffalo in crucial moments.
The Bills will take on the Houston Texans tonight on Thursday Night Football and it has been reported by Adam Schefter, per Alaina Getzenberg, that Coleman is expected to be a healthy scratch.
Bills make right move to bench Keon Coleman for Week 12
With Coleman making mistakes like being late to meetings, the second-year wideout will once again be inactive without any injury designation. Once it was reported that the Bills elevated Gabe Davis again, it was pretty much set that Coleman would be missing this game.
Outside of Week 1 against the Ravens, Coleman has been anything but helpful for this offense. He doesn’t create separation, he’s not making those 50/50 jumpball catches that he showed in college, overall he’s just not living up to being a high second-round pick player that the Bills were hoping for.
Due to the Bills being a championship contender with a superstar quarterback in his prime, the team needs all the help that they can get over the hump in the playoffs and into the Super Bowl. With Coleman having over a season and a half under his belt, you would think that he would take a step forward in his progression. Well, that hasn’t happened yet, and now he seems to still have trouble doing the little things inside the building.
With Coleman expected to miss this game, it makes you wonder how he will react to this move. If the Bills are able to get into a rhythm on offense again without him, especially in the passing game, you could really make the argument that until there is no other route to go, Coleman should not be in the starting lineup for the Bills.
