The Dallas Cowboys have had somewhat of an up-and-down season thus far, with the team heading into Week 12’s matchup against the division rival Philadelphia Eagles with a record of 4-5-1. The team has been impressive on the offensive side of the football, but has struggled defensively, which seems to be a result of the team trading superstar linebacker Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Despite the defense needing significant improvement in Dallas, the team’s offense has been high-powered, with Dak Prescott on the same page with his star wide receivers, George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb.

Back in May, the Cowboys made a move that many believed would either pay off in a big way or become a disaster. America’s Team made a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers to acquire Pickens in exchange for some draft picks over the course of the subsequent two NFL drafts.
After 10 games played by Pickens during his first season with the Cowboys, the trade is shaping up to be one of the best moves the team has made in recent memory, as the wideout has been much better than anticipated in his short time with the team.
With Pickens becoming a major part of the passing game in Dallas, there’s been a lot of talk about the team needing to sign him to a contract extension. The Georgia product was asked about his future in Dallas this week during media availability and seems to be very open to staying put beyond this season, with his connection with Prescott and Lamb being significant factors.
“Just staying connected with those guys,” Pickens said. “That’s all I can say. Me, personally, that’s all I can really do. Just stay connected with those guys. Keep relationships with them.”
Pickens also made it clear that staying connected with his star teammates is a big reason for wanting to stay with the Cowboys.
“Oh, definitely, me keeping relationships with them, still talking to him is definitely going to make me want to stay with them.”
Along with his relationships on the team, the fit in Dallas is something Pickens will keep in consideration.
“Just the camaraderie and the stuff they had here before me is kind of what I gelled into, so definitely a good fit here at the Cowboys.”
Even though there’s a lot of football left to be played this season, where anything can happen, it seems as though Pickens is destined to stay with the Cowboys on a long-term basis, as long as longtime team owner and general manager Jerry Jones is on the same page.
Do Cowboys Have Best WR Duo in the NFL?

Pickens and Lamb have only played alongside one another for a short time, but these two star wideouts are shaping up to be one of the best duos downfield in the NFL. The combination, as well as Prescott’s presence under center, has Pickens excited about the future with the Cowboys.
“I’d love to be back with bro,” Pickens said. “Him, Dak and all the guys really.”
In 10 games, Pickens has caught 58 passes for 908 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He has already eclipsed his career-high total (5) in touchdowns and is on pace to top his career-best totals in receptions (63) and receiving yards (1,140).
As for Lamb, who has played three games less than Pickens, the star wideout has caught 40 passes for 557 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The combination of the two downfield for the Cowboys is lethal and could be one that stands the test of time in Dallas.
