Bills' disastrous Week 12 loss proves they are no longer Super Bowl contenders

When [James Cook](https://buffalowdown.com/it-took-james-cook-just-one-scoring-drive-to-make-bills-history-01kaj1ccc3sj) took a 45-yard run to the house on the Bills’ opening drive, things were looking up for the rest of the game for the offense. That couldn’t be further from the truth as this unit couldn’t get anything going for the rest of the time.

For as great as Josh Allen is, especially coming off a 6-touchdown performance last Sunday against Tampa Bay, the Texans proved why their defense is the best in the business this season. At the same time, when you have Josh Allen under center, greatness is expected. Not just from him though, from everyone, and that clearly didn't happen tonight.

With this loss, the Bills' path to winning the AFC East has essentially been blocked, and quite frankly, they aren't true Super Bowl contenders anymore.

Bills' Week 12 loss severely hurts Buffalo's chance at making Super Bowl run

Outside of Cook, no one on the offense was a threat throughout the game. Wide receivers couldn’t get open, the offensive line was beaten down at times, and there were times where Josh Allen tried to make a play when he should have just thrown the ball away.

Allen threw for 262 yards to finish the game, but he had 2 interceptions and was [sacked 8 times](https://www.espn.com/nfl/boxscore/_/gameId/401772946). There is an argument that atleast one or two of those sacks are on him because he held onto the ball when he should’ve just got rid of it.

The offensive line looked completely lost all around. While Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter were going to make their impact, it was the whole defensive line for Houston that ultimately stepped up and got to Allen.

I get it, Houston has a phenomenal defense. But this was a huge must-win game for the Bills to not only stay in the race for the AFC East, but to make a serious run in the playoffs. While Buffalo is still expected to make the playoffs, this team just doesn’t feel like they will be going far at all.

After a great 44-point performance against the Bucs, the Bills were brought back down to reality by Houston and now going into late November and December against tough opponents, the Bills could be in a world of trouble if they don’t make the adjustments that they need to make.
