Roy Keane shoots down Ian Wright over Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest prediction

Roy Keane and Ian Wright were in complete disagreement over their predictions for Liverpool’s game against Nottingham Forest this weekend, with the latter expecting another defeat for the Reds.

Arne Slot’s side returns to action in the Premier League on Saturday following the international break, and his side will have plenty of work to do as they look to make up ground on Arsenal.

The Reds sit eight points off the current leader after just 11 games, following a poor run of form that has seen them lose seven of their last 10 games in all competitions. They’ll be aiming to avoid another slip-up when they host Forest tomorrow.

Liverpool actually failed to beat Forest in either of their games last season, and suffered its only home defeat against them toward the start of Slot’s reign.

Forest are now under the management of former Everton and Burnley boss Sean Dyche, who took over after Ange Postecoglou’s disastrous spell following Nuno Espirito Santo’s shock exit.

Dyche has won just one of his three league games in charge so far, but former Arsenal striker Wright still backed Forest to win at Anfield - much to the dismay of Keane.

Making their predictions for the game during the latest Stick to Football podcast, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher agreed on a 2-1 win for Liverpool after a short discussion.

It took a lot longer for Keane and Wright to come to a conclusion though. The latter wasn’t convinced by Neville and Carragher’s prediction, saying: “I don’t know. Dychey!”.

Wright pushed for a win for the visitors, only to be immediately shot down by Keane, who responded: “You fancy Forest to win at Liverpool? No.”

Wright replied: “So, what are you going on for the fact that Liverpool are going to win?”

Keane stayed firm, saying: “Their home record, because they’re still at home, their home record is still very good.”

Nevilled then chimed in to point out that Liverpool had already been beaten by Manchester United at home this season, although Keane remained unmoved.

Wright then tried to talk his fellow pundit round to a 1-1 draw, but Keane doubled down on his view as he predicted a 3-1 win for Liverpool, which was backed up by Wayne Rooney.

Wright eventually reluctantly sided with the former United captain as he said: “We going 3-1? Right.”

Liverpool will be hoping to welcome back goalkeeper Alisson Becker on Saturday, with the goalkeeper having been out since picking up a hamstring injury against Galatasaray at the end of September.

Alexander Isak could also make an appearance for the Reds for the first time in a month, although Jeremie Frimpong remains out.

Forest, meanwhile, could be without a number of key players, with doubts over the likes of Chris Wood, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Douglas Luiz and Ola Aina.
