Chelsea return to Premier League action this weekend following the international break
Chelsea won 3-0 at home to Wolves last time out before the international break. Malo Gusto, Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto got their goals at Stamford Bridge as they secured all three points. That game proved to be Vitor Pereria’s final one for their previous opponents and he has since been replaced by Rob Edwards.
Enzo Maresca’s side are sat in 3rd place in the Premier League table behind Arsenal and Manchester City. They are back in action this weekend with an away trip to Turf Moor to play Burnley. Here is a look at a predicted starting XI:
Chelsea predicted XI vs Burnley: goalkeeper and defence
GK: Roberto Sanchez: He has made 14 appearances for Chelsea so far this season, 11 of which have come in the league. The stopper joined them back in 2023 from Brighton and Hove Albion. Filip Jorgensen provides back-up for his position from the bench.
RB: Malo Gusto: The right-back managed to get on the scoresheet in their last game against Wolves. He likes to get up and down the flank of defence and get involved in attacks. Gusto is under contract until June 2030 so have five years left to run still.
CB: Wesley Fofana: He is enjoying a run in the team now following his injury issues over recent times. The former Leicester City man will be looking to keep Burnley at bay. The Clarets were promoted from the Championship earlier this year along with Leeds United and Sunderland.
CB: Trevoh Chalobah: The once-capped England international has been on the books of the Blues for his whole career to date. He rose up through their academy ranks and was loaned out to the likes of Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and Crystal Palace to get experience. He is now a valuable first-team player.
LB: Marc Cucurella: Like Gusto on the other side, the Spaniard tends to attack when he gets chance. He moved to England in 2021 and had a year at Brighton before his transfer to London. He is one of Maresca’s main men at the back now.
Chelsea predicted XI vs Burnley: midfield and attack
CM: Moises Caicedo: He makes Chelsea tick in the middle of the park. The 24-year-old does a lot of unseen work in midfield. He will be looking to help his team get another victory in Lancashire against Burnley.
CM: Andrey Santos:Enzo Fernandez has emerged as a doubt for the Blues and will need to be assessed. Therefore, they may need to think of potential alternatives. Santos seems the most likely individual to slot in for him.
RW: Estevao: Pedro Neto is also a bit of a doubt for the upcoming fixture against the Clarets. Estevao is a bright young talent and may get the nod instead. He is being tipped for a big future and has a lot of potential.
CAM: Joao Pedro: Chelsea secured his services from Brighton in the last transfer window. He was snapped up to boost their attacking department and to give them something different at the top end of the pitch. The Brazilian has scored four goals so far.
LW:Alejandro Garnacho: The Argentina international left Manchester United to join the Blues in August. He has found the net twice so far in all competitions this term since his switch. His pace down the wing should cause Burnley some issues.
ST: Liam Delap: Delap caught the eye at Ipswich Town before Chelsea swooped in. He has been in the treatment room of late but is now fit again. Marc Guiu will be ready to play as well if needed up top.
