FC Barcelona have been linked with a number of potential replacements for Robert Lewandowski. The Pole is 37 years old and in the final few months of his deal at the Catalan club. It is highly unlikely that he can continue to lead the line for another season.
Lewandowski has had an excellent stint in Blaugrana colours since arriving from Bayern Munich. Despite moving to Spain well into his 30s, the Pole’s longevity has taken everyone aback, and he continues to go strong for Hansi Flick’s team.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the idea of signing Harry Kane from Bayern Munich next summer is gaining ground within the club. It would almost give a sense of déjà vu if the Catalan club were to pull this off.
Kane will be 33 next summer and plays for the same team that Lewandowski did before his move to Barcelona. With his proven goalscoring record and a fee considered reasonable in the current market, Barcelona view him as a serious candidate to lead the forward line.
The club has also long admired Julian Alvarez. The Argentinian forward is considered a dream signing at Camp Nou, yet his situation makes a transfer extremely complicated. He has a long-term contract with Atletico Madrid, and the Spanish club has no intention of negotiating a sale, which places significant obstacles in Barcelona’s path.
For these reasons, attention within the club is shifting toward a more realistic pursuit of Kane. Barcelona believe that the €75 million-rated Englishman can provide immediate top-level performances and consider him a striker with at least two or three high-quality seasons still ahead of him.
His combination of goalscoring instinct, physical presence, and overall playmaking ability fits the profile the club is searching for as they prepare for life after Lewandowski.
Barcelona plan to evaluate their attacking options more thoroughly as the January window approaches. For now, everything indicates that the club will make a genuine effort to convince Harry Kane to accept a move to Camp Nou, with the decision ultimately depending on how the market unfolds in the coming months.
