Pep Guardiola was asked about the status of his squad ahead of tomorrow’s match during his pre-game press conference this morning. After a busy international period for his squad, the Manchester City manager revealed that Mateo Kovacic and Rodri are the only two City players who will miss the match against Newcastle. He explained: “*Everybody is fit except for Kova and Rodri.*”

“*Rodri is making good steps, it’s almost three weeks since the last step back. He knows that he has to take the time to recover mentally and especially physically with the problems that he’s had, to be consistent from now until the end.*”

The City squad is in good shape despite Mateo Kovacic and Rodri’s unavailability.

It isn’t a surprise to see Rodri and Mateo Kovacic ruled out of tomorrow’s match for Manchester City. Mateo Kovacic is ruled out for a significant period of time due to a heel injury. Rodri continues to work his way back to full fitness and it will take some time for him to be back in contention for first-team football at City.

Outside of the fitness issues faced by Rodri and Mateo Kovacic the Manchester City squad is in good shape physically. Every other first-team player is available for selection for tomorrow’s match. That is welcome news for Pep Guardiola who will be hoping to put his strongest available starting eleven to contend with the threat posed by Eddie Howe’s side.
