In Week 11, the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to secure their sixth win of the season, with Aaron Rodgers and company getting the best of the division rival Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium. This kept the squad at the top of the AFC North division standings and gave the team some much-needed momentum heading into Week 12’s road matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Although there was a lot of concern about Rodgers’ wrist injury after the game, tight end Darnell Washington basically stole the show, as he put on an incredible display of speed, power and agility during the win over the Bengals that graced the highlight reels and got a lot of people talking about the Georgia product.

Despite being a relatively unknown player in the NFL, Washington made his presence known during the divisional showdown with the Bengals. The 24-year-old tight end put on a show once he got the football in the second quarter, as he put on an impressive physical display, throwing defenders out of the way left and right, highlighted by an epic stiff arm to start his run after the catch.

Washington spoke to the media in the team’s locker room on Thursday and was asked about his freakish display of strength and speed during the game against the Bengals.

“It was just a great play, all around,” Washington said.

The former third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft was also asked about his speed and whether he thinks he can run a 4.6, even at his size.

“I’d put my money on it.”

Washington may have stolen the show in Week 11 with some jaw-dropping highlights, but he hasn’t made much of an impact during the 2025 NFL season until the win over the Bengals.

In 10 games he’s played so far, he’s caught only 18 passes for 201 receiving yards and a touchdown. Those numbers could go up drastically if head coach Mike Tomlin and company believe the young tight end can continue to make an impact moving forward into the second half of the season.

With Washington making headlines during Week 11, Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions and his brother, Equanimeous, had him on their podcast this week. The hot topic of discussion was how much the Steelers’ tight end actually weighs, as they weren’t convinced that he weighed only 260 pounds.

Amon-Ra didn’t waste any time as he went right at Washington to see how much he really weighed, via NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

“I’m 311,” Washington said of his weight.

A 6’7″ tight end that weighs over 300 pounds that can move like Washington does is incredible and a weapon the Steelers should be using much more often in their offense.

With Washington receiving so much attention while showcasing his unique skills, it’ll be interesting to see if Tomlin and his coaching staff utilize Washington more effectively moving forward, as he could become a force to be reckoned with if used properly.
