Jurgen Klopp tipped to deliver honest Arne Slot message to FSG amid Liverpool struggles

Jurgen Klopp has been tipped to tell Liverpool's board to stick with Arne Slot despite the Reds recent slump in form - should the club ever approach him about returning to Anfield.

The Reds sit eighth in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal, having won just once in their last six matches. Four straight defeats preceded their early-November victory over Aston Villa, and the team’s poor form has led to doubts about the performances of several players.

Slot inherited a huge challenge when he succeeded Klopp last year, and while his position is not believed to be under any threat whatsoever, recent questions have emerged as he continues to search for his strongest lineup after a busy summer of new arrivals. Some have even bizarrely called for the club to bring Klopp back to Anfield - despite him all-but ruling out ever coming back.

Former Liverpool, Everton and West Ham midfielder Don Hutchinson believes that Klopp wouldn't return to the sidelines at Anfield and would instead tell FSG to stick by the Dutchman.

"No, I don't see it. I think Jurgen's got more about him" said Hutchinson in an interview with Sports Casting. "I even think if that was the conversation, I think Jurgen would say to Liverpool to be patient on Slot, to give the guy time.

"I think Jurgen's that type of guy where it's not all about him. Jurgen's very honest. He wants to do what's best for himself and Liverpool for sure. So he would probably say to the board, stay patient, stay with Arne Slot.

"There's no one out there at the minute from the list of managers that would be available who would make it worth firing Slot."

Despite the questions surrounding Slot, chairman Tom Werner has spoke highly of the 47-year-old, emphasizing the qualities that made the club so confident in him from the moment he was chosen to succeed Klopp.

“With Michael [Edwards] and Richard [Hughes] on board, we had enormous confidence that they would find the right person,” Werner said in an interview with the Athletic.

“Arne was always their first choice, and he’s shown why that was the case. It’s a surprise to everyone that his first year went quite so wonderfully, but it’s been a source of delight.

“One of Arne’s great attributes is his authenticity. He’s not trying to be Jurgen Klopp, he’s not trying to be Pep Guardiola. He’s his own man, and he’s quite brilliant in all the things that he does."
