Eddie Howe issues strong statement as Newcastle United gear up for Manchester City

**Manchester City head to St James Park on Saturday for a Sky Sports televised 5:30 pm kick-off against Newcastle United.**

Newcastle desperately need a win against one of the 'big six' after putting in top performances against Arsenal and Liverpool but coming away with nothing.

It has extra importance for the Magpies because their season has got off to such a rocky start, particularly away from home.

We can't compete for those Champions League places on home form alone, but even so, winning every game at St James' Park would stand us in good stead, and we've already lost two there.

They have a lot to prove to themselves, but they have even more to prove to the fans, particularly those who are losing faith.

We aren't saying that we're not capable of beating Man City, because we absolutely are, but it may be wise to temper expectations slightly to prevent another meltdown.

All we want is to see every player giving absolutely everything for 90 minutes. That has been our biggest problem this season: we've disappeared in the middle of games. That needs to stop. We can do this!
