Manchester United are considered favourites by the Opta supercomputer when they host Everton on Monday. Look ahead to the game at Old Trafford with our Man Utd vs Everton prediction and preview.
Man Utd vs Everton: The Key Stats
The Opta supercomputer rates Manchester United as favourites with a 50.9% win probability to Everton’s 24.2%.
United have won their last four Premier League home games, more than they had in their previous 13.
Everton are winless in their last nine Premier League games on a Monday night.
Manchester United are looking for some more home comforts when they welcome Everton to Old Trafford for Monday Night Football on the one-year anniversary of Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge.
United have racked up four straight home Premier League wins, more than they managed in their previous 13 at Old Trafford (W3, D2, L8). They last had a better streak between April and August 2023 (8).
One year of amorim
The Red Devils’ improved form this season has at least been partly influenced by their first-half performances, managing more goals before half-time (11) than any other team in the competition, while only Arsenal and Crystal Palace have shipped fewer in the opening period (4).
On the other hand, Ruben Amorim’s side do have the worst record when it comes to goals conceded in the second half (14), though they’ve shown themselves to be made of sterner stuff this season, as highlighted by their ability to fight back.
In their previous two games, United have opened the scoring, gone behind, and gone on to avoid defeat, securing 2-2 draws against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham. The Red Devils are consequently the first team in the Premier League to do this in consecutive games since Manchester City in May/August 2012 (3-2 victories against QPR and Southampton). No team has ever done this in three straight matches.
United have also turned defeats into draws, or draws into wins with late goals (80th minute or later) in three of their past four league games; it’s only the third time in Premier League history they’ve managed result-altering goals three times in a period of four matches.
Bryan Mbeumo has played his part in that and is a man in form, with no United player involved in more Premier League goals this season than him (6 – 5G, 1A). However, Everton are the only side the Cameroonian has faced more than twice in the Premier League without registering either a goal or an assist (8 games).
Everton ended a three-match winless streak by defeating Fulham 2-0 in their last game before the international break. But the omens aren’t great for the trip to Old Trafford.
The Monday night slot isn’t one the Toffees tend to fare well in, failing to win their last nine such Premier League games since a 2-1 triumph against Arsenal in December 2021 (D5, L4).
Similarly, Everton haven’t won any of their last 10 away games on a Monday night (D4, L6) since beating Sunderland in September 2016 (3-0).
Everton boss David Moyes has a terrible record against his former employers, but he does have in his ranks a player who can be something of a trump card on his day.
Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish provided four assists from five chances created in his first three Premier League appearances for Everton this season, earning him the August Player of the Month award. He’s continued to be a reliable creative source since then, laying on 19 chances for teammates in seven matches. None of them have been converted, though.

But while Moyes might see Grealish as someone who can make a difference, he seemingly doesn’t consider his squad to be overflowing with options. After all, he’s used fewer players (19) than any other manager in the top flight this season.
It’s just as well, then, Moyes doesn’t have lots of injuries to contend with. Jarrad Branthwaite remains the only long-term absentee for Everton, while Nathan Patterson is still a doubt.
Amorim shouldn’t have too many concerns on the injury front either. Harry Maguire, Casemiro, and Benjamin Sesko all went off injured in United’s draw with Tottenham, but Sesko is the only one of them definitely out; Casemiro actually featured for Brazil since sustaining his knock. Kobbie Mainoo could also return to the squad after missing the Spurs game, while Lisandro Martínez is likely to be involved for the first time since suffering a serious ACL injury in February.
Man Utd vs Everton Head-to-Head
United have racked up 42 Premier League wins against Everton, the most victories any side have against another in the competition.
Indeed, Everton have won just one of their past 12 Premier League games against the Red Devils (D5, L6) – a 1-0 home win in April 2022.
They have tasted victory in just one of their last 32 against United at Old Trafford (D8, L23), also a 1-0 victory in December 2013.
