Karim Adeyemi’s future at Borussia Dortmund has become one of the most discussed storylines in European football this month, with the 23-year-old German international at the center of speculation linking him to several elite clubs.
The winger, who joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022, has been the subject of growing transfer interest following stalled contract negotiations and reported tensions with manager Niko Kovac.
Manchester United and Arsenal have emerged as the most prominent Premier League suitors, with both clubs having reportedly initiated discussions with Adeyemi’s new representative super-agent Jorge Mendes, who recently began representing the player.
Dortmund are reportedly demanding a transfer fee in the region of €70-80 million to sanction Adeyemi’s departure, though his contract situation—which runs until 2027—complicates matters.
However, according to a report from German outlet WAZ, neither Manchester United, Arsenal, nor Inter Milan represent Adeyemi’s preferred destinations should he depart Dortmund.
The report claims that Liverpool and Real Madrid are the two clubs that genuinely appeal to the German international.
Neither Anfield nor the Santiago Bernabéu have made concrete approaches for Adeyemi thus far, though Mendes has reportedly offered the player to Real Madrid as he canvasses Europe’s elite.
This season, Adeyemi has made 14 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund, contributing three goals and three assists despite limited playing time under Kovac.
With the January transfer window fast approaching and his future at Signal Iduna Park looking increasingly uncertain, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool or Real Madrid will act on the winger’s reported preferences or whether he will have to settle for one of the clubs already actively pursuing his signature.
The German international has been linked with Liverpool on and off in the past few seasons.
