Liverpool need to sign a Premier League star for £65m if the Arne Slot era is to be deemed as a long-term success.
The Reds are hoping to turn their fortunes around after the international break, as they have a game against Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon. If they win, they could move up to third in the Premier League table, and potentially quell any doubts over them.
Arne Slot had a great start to life as a manager at Liverpool by winning the league title last season. However, the manager finds himself under a lot of criticism as of late, as the summer signings haven’t really worked out, and Liverpool are slowly slipping out of the title race.

However, there is a deal they could potentially do in January that would not only boost their chances this season but solve a long-term issue that Slot will have to deal with.
Liverpool NEED Antoine Semenyo
Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo has been linked with Liverpool, and he is set to have a £65m release clause activated in his contract in January, meaning the Reds could sign him in less than two months’ time.
However, Man United, Tottenham and Arsenal are amongst those also keen on the Bournemouth star, and so Semenyo will likely get a choice of where he wants to go amid all the interest from big Premier League clubs this Winter.
For a start, Liverpool look as though they have lost their spark, and Semenyo certainly provides spark. He has scored six goals, and provided three assists in 11 Premier League games for Bournemouth this season.
But, looking at the long-term, Mo Salah’s form has dropped off, and his current contract is due to expire in June 2027, meaning that he will have just one year left on his deal at the end of the season. Slot needs to find a successor to Salah, who can be Liverpool’s attacking talisman moving forward.
Semenyo would be the perfect answer to that dilemma, as he can play on both wings, but his best position is on the right – the exact role that Salah has played at Liverpool for almost a decade. The Reds simply need to sign the Bournemouth star to ensure that the Slot era isn’t doomed for the next few years.
