Jalen Hurts haters don't want Eagles fans to see stats comparison to NFL legend

This past week has just felt like everyone wanted to get their two cents in on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

It's been all about the recent report by Eagles reporter Derrick Gunn, who said members of the organization are frustrated with Hurts' play on the field. This has once again brought up the debate as to whether Hurts is a good quarterback or not.

One X user, Jim Lopardo, was so kind as to remind people that Hurts has done a ton over the last five years for this team. In fact, it was the stats Lopardo shared that showed Hurts is doing just as well, if not better, than a certain former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, Tom Brady, did in that same span.

Diving a bit deeper in to the numbers, Hurts is doing well compared to Brady

It would be kind of unfair to compare the sixth-year numbers, since they are not complete, but if fans looked at them as well, it would show that Hurts is pacing to do better than Brady. The following table shows many of the same stats on how Brady performed in his first 10 games of his sixth year as the Patriots' starting quarterback, compared to Hurts' sixth year as the starter in 2025.

Sixth Year Numbers Through 10 Games Tom Brady (2006) Jalen Hurts (2025)

Record 7-3 8-2

Completion Percentage 59.1% 66.9%

Passing Yards 2,296 1,995

Passing Touchdowns 19 16

Interceptions 9 1

Rushing Yards 118 265

Rushing Touchdowns 0 6

Total Touchdowns Responsible For 19 22

Let's not all pretend that all of a sudden, Hurts is a bad quarterback. In fact, he seems to be doing pretty well for himself. He's done way more for this Eagles offense than Brady was doing for the Patriots.

Brady had a game where he threw for four interceptions in 2026 that cost them a seven-point loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Hurts has only thrown for one interception this season.

Are these numbers showing that Hurts is a Hall of Fame quarterback in the making? No, but it should show that people shouldn't rush to judgment about him being a bad quarterback. The numbers show that he's doing a good job.
