Watch: Citc launch degree video

Manchester City’s Charity, City in the Community (CITC), has launched a new promotional video for the City Degree programme.

The short film features participants, University staff and CITC coaches, who all share insights into how the course provides high quality education, trips and unique opportunities.

Working in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), the course provides students with the skills and experience to help them find success in coaching.

The curriculum offers a space for students to develop through work-based learning based in elite and professional sporting surroundings.

Students can take advantage of fully funded qualifications, activators and workshops, which are built into the university timetable across the three years of learning, with further opportunities for partially funded qualifications also available.

Former student, Jessica Preston, who has gone on to become a coach at CITC, spoke about how the course allowed her to develop through hands on experience.

She said: “Studying on the degree course was a once in a lifetime opportunity, that allowed me to grow and develop my skills as a coach, all while working alongside Manchester City staff and obtaining real-world experience.”

Learners will enjoy a combined 28 weeks of placement over three years, arranged by CITC.

While on the course, students are also given employment opportunities on CITC’s Kicks, One City, City Girls and BTEC course on a part time basis, allowing them to gain valuable experience.

UCAS applications are still open to apply for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Sitting under CITC’s Healthy Futures pillar, the course is designed to engage and inspire young people by providing the qualifications and skills required to progress into further education, employment and training.

CITC has also announced the launch of a brand-new Masters in Sport Coaching and Performance, developed in partnership with MMU.
