The Detroit Lions return to Ford Field to kick off the first of a three-game home stand against the New York Giants on Sunday.
The Lions (6-4) are coming off a brutal offensive performance that saw them drop a winnable game against the Philadelphia Eagles and must now defend their three-year streak without consecutive regular-season losses.
For the Giants (2-9) the season looks lost with their head coach, Brian Daboll, already out and a five-game losing streak clouding their roster.
Here are score predictions for Detroit’s home matchup with the Giants from MLive’s beat writers:

The Giants don’t make it easy for anyone, and they have some very real talent on their defensive line. But the Lions are the superior team and they should be able to control this game. I’m expecting a big bounce back for Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown to lead the way after last week’s ugly outing.
That’s where the Lions should thrive in this one, and I feel like they’ll make it a point to say, “See, we’re good there.” New York doesn’t have the firepower to keep up for all 60 minutes, so this is a true get right game heading into Thanksgiving.
Prediction: Lions 27, Giants 10

This wicked trend of not losing back-to-back games is going to continue for the Lions. Knowing that their playoff future hangs in balance, I expect them to use this as the ultimate “get back right” game.” Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown played two of their career-worst games against Philadelphia. They’ll be aiming to regain their chemistry by testing New York’s secondary often, looking to exploit every mismatch possible.
I do feel this is a game they need to get David Montgomery going. He is a key part of this offense that is underutilized. If he can set the tone along with Jahmyr Gibbs, I expect a decisive Lions win.
Prediction: Lions 24, Giants 6

The Lions are getting tired of trading wins and losses — which they’ve done the past six games — and want to develop a real winning streak. That starts on Sunday.
It’s been established Detroit is the king of the bounce-back win and I expect nothing else against the Giants. Jaxson Dart potentially returning at quarterback after being in concussion protocol should lead to a few explosive plays, but I don’t think the Lions will really be sweating this one like the Green Bay Packers did against New York last week.
Prediction: Lions 35, Giants 17
Here are some additional predictions from national media for the Lions-Giants game:
Pick: Lions
“The Lions are coming off a tough loss to the Eagles and now must regroup at home against a Giants team that isn’t going anywhere. The Giants might have Jaxson Dart back at quarterback this week, but it won’t matter who plays quarterback. This will be about the Lions offense getting back on track after disappointing last week. They roll.”
Pick: Lions (unanimous)

“I do respect the possibility that New York will get some productively chaotic quarterbacking on Sunday, whether Jaxson Dart is able to suit up or Jameis Winston gets another turn. And the Lions’ inconsistency this season is a concern. Ultimately, though, they have top-five units on both sides of the ball, and I trust Dan Campbell to seize this opportunity to get things lined up for the stretch run.”
Pick: Lions
“Jared Goff and the Lions have not lost back-to-back games all season. They are not going to start here. Detroit will rebound with a big offensive performance at home.”
Pick: Lions
“The Lions are 3-1 at home, and they won those games by an average margin of 23.3 points per game. Jameis Winston had two turnovers in the loss to the Packers in Week 11. Detroit will get on track in a convincing fashion here to get ready for the rematch with Green Bay on Thanksgiving.”
Pick: Lions (unanimous)
“It was an ugly showing for the Lions against the Eagles, but New York’s defense doesn’t come close to Philly’s. I don’t see Detroit having consecutive down games, so, with this at home, I’m big on the Lions.”
Pick: Lions (unanimous)
“This is not a good week to be playing the Lions in Detroit.”
Pick: Lions (unanimous)
“The Lions are an angry team with Super Bowl aspirations in third place in their division after an ugly loss in Philadelphia. The Giants are a coach-less team in last place in their division because they are woeful.
The Lions are 3-1 at Ford Field, with an average margin of victory of 23 plus change. The G-Men are allowing just under 150 yards per game on the ground and a league-high 5.5 yards per carry.
This is a woodshed game—and the Giants are getting dragged behind it."
