West Ham target Tiago Gabriel has been compared to former Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho by his former coach.
Gabriel’s worked with Filipe Martins at Estrela Amadora, and when asked about the 20-year-old’s style of play by Tutto Juve, Martins said the centre-back shared some traits with the three-time Premier League winner:
“I’ve always thought Tiago resembles Ricardo Carvalho in his calmness and the way he plays, but he has a long stride like Jorge Andrade, who previously played for Juventus.”

Gabriel is also being pursued by Juventus, but it does appear as if the Hammers have advanced negotiations the furthest.
A bid has already been tabled for Gabriel
It was reported in the Italian media last week that West Ham had offered €18m (roughly £16m), but the proposal was rejected by his club, Lecce.
The Serie A side are said to be holding out for around €25m (£22m) to sell Gabriel during the January transfer window. That is a sizeable fee for someone who has only played 26 senior matches in his career so far.
