West Ham Encouraged To Revive Interest In Chelsea Pair After Maresca Issues Blunt Update On Their Futures

**Former West Ham transfer targets Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling have not been reintegrated into Chelsea’s first team, according to head coach Enzo Maresca.**

Disasi was pictured with the senior squad during the international break, having spent the first few months of the campaign with the Under-21s. However, when asked if the Frenchman was back in contention for first-team duties, Maresca replied:

“Disasi and Sterling are both Chelsea players. Axel is helping the second team, helping the young players as he did during the international break. At the moment, he is helping the second team and helping them.”

It looks like the pair are still surplus to requirements, with any bids likely to be considered when the transfer window reopens in January.

Would Disasi be a good fit for West Ham?

A move for the France international was explored in the summer, but it was ultimately decided that Brighton’s Igor Julio was a better signing.

However, with the Brazilian having made just a few brief substitute appearances, there is a chance he could be sent back to the south coast early in the New Year.

It means an approach for Disasi could be reconsidered. He would not have been a good fit for Graham Potter, as his passing and lack of pace are among his main weaknesses. However, he is dominant in the air, and there is a case for saying that he could thrive in a low block that Nuno employs.

Is Sterling a potential target?

The Irons were [**linked**](https://hammersheadlines.com/west-ham-transfer-news-chelsea-raheem-sterling/) with the former England international, along with Fulham, Crystal Palace and Juventus, at the start of August.

It is thought that Sterling is keen on staying in the capital for family reasons, so he would definitely consider a move to the London Stadium. He would also offer competition for Crysencio Summerville on the left wing. The main stumbling block would be his £325,000 a week wages.
