Liverpool have been told to focus on strengthening their defence before looking to add another forward to their squad.
The Reds have emerged as potential suitors for Antoine Semenyo ahead of the January transfer window.

Liverpool told Antoine Semenyo is NOT who they need - as Arne Slot urged to sign another Premier League star
Arne Slot's side could move for the Bournemouth man when his release clause becomes active in the new year.
Semenyo will be available for £65million during the early stages of the window.
Meanwhile, his release clause consists of £60million up front with a further £5million in add-ons.
The Ghana international also favours staying in the Premier League if he leaves the Cherries, talkSPORT understands.

Who should Liverpool sign?
However, Scott Minto believes Liverpool's priority should be elsewhere once they can bolster their squad again.
He has instead told Slot to reignite his interest in one of his summer transfer targets.
The former Chelsea defender explained on talkSPORT: "On Semenyo, and I've spoken to people about him, and they say he's a fantastic guy, fantastic personality.
"He's powerful, he's balanced, he's strong, he's skilful, he's both-footed. He wants to watch his clips back, so he wants to try and get better and better and better.
"He's happy to keep his width and understands the tactical side of the game, and to be quite contemporary as well. He has a long throw in him.
"So he's an excellent player, but I don't think that's what Liverpool need. I think they need Marc Guehi. That's what I feel they need.

"They needed him in the summer, and I think they need him even more now.
"If I were Palace, I'd be holding on like anything and letting him go on a free, because I believe they've got a great chance of winning the Conference League, and what a historic season that would be again for them.
"And every position they finish high is £2.5million, £3million, so they can claw back some money they could possibly get there.
"For me, that's someone like him to shore up the defence, to make it look as if they're a little bit stronger."
Guehi previously saw a deadline day move to Anfield break down during the final hours of the summer window.
The Crystal Palace captain's contract expires at the end of the season, with Guehi expected to leave the club on a free transfer.

Clubs from overseas are able to agree a pre-contract deal with the England centre-back from January 1.
However, Liverpool would have to agree a fee with Palace in order to sign Guehi permanently midway through the season.

Guehi has 18 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions so far this season, including all but one of their league matches.
He was also a key part of their FA Cup triumph last term as well as the side which beat Liverpool in the Community Shield in August.
