Manchester United have to wait until Monday to get back in action after the international break - but that could actually be a blessing in disguise. The Red Devils welcome Everton to Old Trafford in a few days’ time.

And Ruben Amorim will certainly hope to use that time to his advantage given the injuries that United are contending with. A number of stars were dealing with issues ahead of the international break including Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and more.

The club’s injury woes then got even worse with Benjamin Sesko and Harry Maguire both being withdrawn in the late 2-2 draw with Tottenham. And that leaves the United boss with a few tricky decisions to make ahead of Monday’s clash with Everton.

Starting in goal, summer signing Senne Lammens appears to have secured the number one shirt and that should continue against Everton. But the defence in front of the Belgian stopper will look slightly different.

Maguire has been ruled out with injury, while Kobbie Mainoo is another possible absentee. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Amorim said: “Maguire is not ready, Kobbie didn't train today but I think tomorrow we could see Kobbie so we will see.”

That could see Leny Yoro drafted into the starting XI. Luke Shaw and Matthijs de Ligt should be selected as his fellow centre-backs.

Moving into midfield, Noussair Mazraoui and Patrick Dorgu should be stationed as wing-backs. The latter is just one yellow card away from a ban but should still be fine to play.

In midfield, Casemiro seems fit to play, with captain Bruno Fernandes remaining as one of the first names on the teamsheet. Moving into attack, Matheus Cunha and Amad look set to start once again, having been in the starting XI vs Tottenham.

There is the headache of what to do when it comes to the striker position. Sesko remains ruled out with a knee injury he picked up vs Tottenham.

Speaking about the forward, Amorim said: “He is going to stay a few weeks out. I don't know how long but it is not that serious we have to be careful with him. He is going to recover. He is doing the recovery and he is feeling better so we expect in a few weeks to have him back.

“I think it is going to be more or less he will be back at the same time as Amad and Mbeumo leave for AFCON. I don't want to say for sure but when they are going to the camp I expect to have Ben back.”

That should see Bryan Mbeumo lead to line in Sesko’s place against Everton, despite Joshua Zirkzee being an option. Cunha could play centrally as a false No.9 as well.
