When Arsenal’s top stars see their contracts run out as the Gunners strive to win top honours

Premier League leaders Arsenal have built a squad capable of challenging for glory across multiple fronts in recent years and will hope now is finally their time to reach the top of the mountain under Mikel Arteta.

It is unsurprising that the Gunners have one of the highest-value squads in world football – €1.31billion (£1.15b) according to Transfermarkt – and their blend of marquee signings and quality young players developed into stars at the club has made for one of the most impressive squads on the continent.

It is only natural that Arteta’s side boasts many top players who would instantly become one of the most in-demand stars on the market if they were to become available.

Arsenal contract breakdown as new Saka deal touted

Arsenal have been given encouraging news in recent days as reports by Sky Sports state that talks are ‘progressing’ for a new deal for Saka in north London, with a ‘willingness from all parties’ to reach a solution. The 24-year-old currently sees his deal run out in 2027, meaning the academy graduate was seen as the most pressing contract situation to resolve following recent renewals for crucial centre-back duo Gabriel and William Saliba.

In addition to Saka, the Gunners also have four other players whose contracts are currently set to expire in 2027. Gabriel Martinelli and Christian Norgaard are two of those, though the club possess the option of a further year until 2028 in both cases. Leandro Trossard also sees his deal expire in 2027, whilst the future of Gabriel Jesus will be interesting as the Brazilian also has just 18 months left on his deal, having spent almost a year on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

It will make positive reading that the club do not have any players whose contracts are set to expire in 2026. This is with the exception of loan signing Piero Hincapie, who could sign permanently on a long-term deal next summer as a £45million option to buy was agreed in his loan move from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Gunners then see eight players’ contracts run out in 2028, including captain Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice (option of a further year), Jurrien Timber and David Raya. In summer 2029, Gabriel, Riccardo Calafiori and Eberechi Eze see their current deals expire, with an option of a further year for the latter.

The remaining seven players of Arsenal’s first-team squad then see their deals expire in 2030, including Saliba, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi and teenagers Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri. The Gunners’ 15-year-old starlet Max Dowman is not yet eligible for a professional contract, but has reportedly signed a pre-contract scholarship deal which will be valid until he can sign a professional contract on his 17th birthday.
