The Arizona Cardinals signed running back Jermar Jefferson to the active roster and running back Sincere McCormick to the practice squad on Friday.
Arizona ruled running back Emari Demercado out for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Bam Knight, meanwhile, has been limited in practice this week with an ankle injury.
Fellow running back Trey Benson returned to practice this week after missing six games with a knee injury. Benson’s status for Sunday, however, is still to be determined. The room has been without Week 1 starter James Conner since Week 3, when he suffered a season-ending ankle injury.
Jefferson, 25, joined the Cardinals’ practice squad on Oct. 1 after he spent training camp with the Tennessee Titans.
The 5-foot-10 ball carrier has nine games of NFL experience after the Detroit Lions drafted him in the seventh round out of Oregon State in 2021.
He was a Doak Walker Award semifinalist in 2020 with the Beavers but has only received six regular season carries since his rookie year.

McCormick went undrafted out of UTEP in 2022 and made his NFL debut last season for the Las Vegas Raiders. In 39 carries, McCormick gained 183 yards (4.7 average) with 10 first downs.
He has spent most of this season with the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad after getting cut by the Raiders following training camp.
The 5-foot-9 running back was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year in 2021.
