Tampa Bay Buccaneers Have Bad News for Top Cornerback

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play on the road against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium for Week 12 of the regular season on Sunday Night Football. Tampa Bay aims to snap its two-game losing streak and expand its lead in the NFC South. For the Buccaneers to pull off the upset, they must contain Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua, and Davante Adams in the passing game, although their top cornerback is banged up.

Jamel Dean suffered a hip injury in the first quarter of Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills and did not return for the remainder of the game. He sat out Wednesday and Thursday’s practices and is trending toward sitting out Friday. Dean, who reworked his contract in September, is making the most of the contract year, leading the team with three interceptions, one pick-six, and six pass deflections while allowing 192 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and a staggering 27.5 passer rating. The Buccaneers simply cannot afford for him to miss time.

During Friday’s press conference, Todd Bowles already ruled out Jamel Dean against the Los Angeles Rams, as reported by River Wells of Sports Illustrated. Meanwhile, second-round pick Benjamin Morrison will replace him in the starting lineup alongside Zyon McCollum on the outside and Jacob Parrish in the slot. Morrison filled in last week and recorded four tackles and one pass deflection.
