Bengals star WR gushes over “outstanding” Joe Burrow

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins was excited to watch Joe Burrow back in practice. After being sidelined since suffering a toe injury in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season, Burrow is on track to make his return.

Zac Taylor has yet to announce whether the quarterback will start against the New England Patriots on Sunday, but the signs point to Burrow making his much-anticipated return against Drake Maye and Co.

Burrow took the first-team reps on Thursday, whereas Joe Flacco took the QB2 reps, fueling the speculation that the former No. 1 overall pick is preparing to start in Week 12. After the session, Higgins heaped high praise on Burrow, labeling him as “outstanding” in practice.

“He’s slinging it deep, short routes,” Higgins said, via Ben Baby of ESPN. “Everything’s been pretty good.”

Higgins added that he will be ready to help Burrow succeed, more so now that he will be the team’s WR1 while Ja’Marr Chase serves a one-game suspension for spitting on Jalen Ramsey in Week 11.

“He needs to take as much time as he needs, but I mean, he looks good,” Higgins said. “If he’s ready, then I’m ready. Take as much time as you need to get back to 100 percent, which I think he is [at] now.”

The Bengals (3-7) still have chances to advance to the playoffs. However, they can’t afford to lose more games if they want to enter the season finale with chances to play more January football.

Burrow has gone 21 of 36 for 189 yards and two touchdowns in two games. The last time the Bengals clashed with the Patriots, they lost the 2024 season opener. This is a solid opportunity to end the Pats’ eight-game winning streak and perhaps start their own.
