PITTSBURGH --Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward was spotted in a walking boot on Friday, raising questions about his potential status for Sunday against the Chicago Bears.
Heyward did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but was listed as a veteran having rest throughout the week. He has commonly missed practices due to wear and tear, but he usually ends up practicing later in the week for at least one day.
The walking boot is an ominous sign for the Steelers, and if Heyward could unexpectedly not play, it would more than likely be Yahya Black starting for the Steelers. If Heyward does play, he is still clearly dealing with some type of minor injury.
Heyward has not missed a game this season and has been the iron man for the Steelers. He missed time two seasons ago with a core muscle injury that required surgery, but came back and was an iron hand in the running game that year.
While he has not been as elite of a pass rusher this year, Heyward’s run defense has continued to impress throughout the season. He was an All-Pro a year ago, another notch in his belt of a storied career.
