Los Angeles Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman has taken on an advisory role with the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, per ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.
Dodgers special advisor Fahran Zaidi will also lend his services to the Lakers.
Mark Walter, who owns both the Dodgers and Lakers, has already made massive changes since his appointment on Oct. 29, uprooting the Lakers’ scouting team and removing Joey and Jesse Buss from their positions Thursday.

Friedman will be a great addition to the Lakers, as he has already shown what kind of business he can do through his decade with the Dodgers.
Since Friedman’s appointment in 2015, the Dodgers have finished first in the NL West every season but one, the exception being in 2021. The Dodgers have won three World Series under Friedman’s watch, taking the championship in 2020, 2024 and 2025.
The Dodgers’ success has attracted multiple top free agents to LA, and has helped them further establish their dominance in MLB.

The Lakers have also had their fair share of dominance over the past handful of years, winning an NBA championship in 2020 and making the playoffs in every year since, bar 2022.
Basketball in LA only grows more exciting with the change, as Lakers fans already have plenty to celebrate in the NBA. The Lakers finished third in the Western Conference last season after acquiring Luka Doncic, one of the NBA’s biggest stars, and are putting together a solid season in 2025-26.

They currently have an 11-4 record in the young season, placing fourth in the Western Conference.
If Friedman’s history of success with the Dodgers is anything to go off of, the Lakers are in for plenty of success under his watch in the future.
