Getting traded to San Fran, it opened my eyes to so much. It was a massive blessing. What I learned during that whole process was incredible. To answer your question, yeah, it was a huge blessing. But it was also a bittersweet moment for me at the time. I loved Charlotte. I loved Carolina. It’s where I still have a home. And I loved my teammates, and I was a captain on that team.
It’s weird when you get traded during the middle of the year, but when I look back on my journey and what’s happened and what’s transpired since then, I can’t help but be so grateful for the opportunity to come to San Fran and call this place home and be with so many amazing players and make lifelong friends here. I think it’s all about perspective.
To go on that year and play in an NFC Championship game, to be able to make a big run and win Offensive Player of the Year the next year, yeah it’s hard for me to sit there and not be grateful for everything that’s happened in my life.
