PITTSBURGH --Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward is expected to play against the Chicago Bears despite wearing a walking boot in the locker room on Friday, sources told PennLive. Heyward was a limited participate in practice on Friday and seemingly dinged his ankle in practice. He is questionable, but a source described it as ‘precautionary.'
Heyward did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but was listed as a veteran having rest throughout the week. He has commonly missed practices due to wear and tear, but he usually ends up practicing later in the week for at least one day.
The Steelers will continue to monitor his ankle on Saturday to make sure all goes well, but the standout defensive tackle and defensive captain is expected to play.
Joining him in the questionable tag is quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was limited for two straight days. Cornerback Darius Slay is also trying to return from a concussion but took a step back on Friday and was questionable to play.
Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith, who has not registered a full practice this week but rather two limited practices, is still doubtful to play against the Bears, but it bodes well his potential to return next week against the Buffalo Bills.
