Packers finally announce Jayden Reed news everyone wanted to hear

Before Friday, Jayden Reed hadn’t officially set foot on a field since fracturing his collarbone on the Packers’ first drive in Week 2. Shortly after he underwent surgery on both his clavicle and foot, a prior injury (Jones fracture) that he had been playing through. Today, the Packers finally issued the announcement every fan was waiting to hear:

That’s great news for Reed, for the fanbase, and for a receiving corps surprisingly looking for answers as Week 12 nears.

Packers might not know how much they missed Reed until they get him back

Of course, this doesn’t mean Reed will play Sunday versus the Vikings – he has been ruled out for the contest. But with the commencement of his 21-day practice window, he should be back in pads sometime soon. The Packers have until the end of the three-week period to either elevate Reed to the active roster or put him back on injured reserve for another minimum four-game absence.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (11) runs through a drill during the second day of training camp on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Ray Nitschke Field in Ashwaubenon, Wis.

After leading the receiver room in yards and catches last season, Reed entered 2025 as the team’s de facto WR1 within a deep group. Even with Christian Watson’s return, however, weekly injuries have done much to dilute said depth, and Green Bay will play the rest of the season without star tight end Tucker Kraft.

But having Reed back will help open up the offense in a number of ways. With Kraft gone, a healthy Reed is the closest thing to a security blanket for Jordan Love, a reliable source of production at all levels of the field. And with Kraft gone, the Packers are in desperate need of yards after the catch. Reed is the only receiver who really gives them that, racking up 380 YAC yards last season to pace Packers wideouts by a mile.

Also on Friday’s injury report, fellow targets Matthew Golden (shoulder/wrist), Dontayvion Wicks (calf), Savion Williams (foot), plus running back Josh Jacobs (knee), all bear questionable tags.
