Ellie Carpenter commented on a 1-1 draw for **Chelsea**against Barcelona.
The defender daggered a brilliant strike into the back of the net to give the Blues the lead against the Spanish side for the first time at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League. **Ewa Pajor**soon levelled the score, but **Barcelona**were frustrated for long stretches of the action on Thursday.
Carpenter could have doubled her tally for the evening if she connected correctly with a second half layoff from Catarina Macario. The substitute striker also came close to giving **Chelsea**the lead as she was ruled marginally offside for a header with her first touch from an Erin Cuthbert free kick.
The club are still searching for their first European title, and they are making the right moves in the continental competition to get the campaign back on track after a 1-1 draw against **Twente**in October.
"It was a beautiful ball from Aggie Beever-Jones to start with, and then I just saw space in front of me and just hit it. I've been wanting to shoot a bit more and take my shots when I get them.
"Everybody has been telling me to shoot. I'm proud to get that first goal and get the momentum going. It's a little disappointing: we deserved to win that game, we had chances we could have converted.
"I'm very proud of the team performance.
“We stuck to the game plan and brought it to Barcelona. We showed what this team is capable of when we a really playing our roles. I'm proud for the point but disappointed we didn't get three.
"We weren't as clinical as we would have liked. But it was a great team effort and a game we can build on. We didn't start the campaign as well as we would have liked, but this was a massive team performance and a boost to our confidence."
