Romano Claims 19 Year Old Defender Is“Among”The Options As Man City Target Livramento Alternative

Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read is “among” the targets that Man City are looking at to strengthen their options at right-back, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Writing on his X account, Romano said that the 19-year-old is a name that has been added to the club’s shortlist ahead of the January transfer window:

“EXCL: Manchester City add Dutch right back Givairo Read among options monitored for new RB in 2026.”

“Bayern are also interested as they held talks with his camp, both clubs are keen on Feyenoord’s talent.”

Man City have scouted the fullback in recent weeks

It was reported in the Dutch media at the start of this month that Pep Guardiola’s side had been keeping tabs on the teenager’s progress.

Bayern’s interest is already well known, but Arsenal are said to have taken a look at Read too. It has recently been claimed that the Gunners are open to offloading Ben White so the Netherlands Under 21 international may well be targeted as a potential replacement.

Read might be a cheaper alternative to Livramento

Up until very recently, the Cityzens had prioritised a move for Newcastle’s Tino Livramento as they look to strengthen their depth on the right-hand side of defence.

It had even been suggested that James Trafford could be offered in part-exchange for the defender, but there are doubts that the Magpies would accept any proposal for Livramento.

A £70m price tag had been mentioned by one source but the general feeling is that Eddie Howe’s side are extremely reluctant to sell.

With that being the case, Director of Football Hugo Viana may be casting his eye around the market for other potential candidates, and it appears as if Read is one of those who has been identified. We shall see if a bid is made for the right-back in the New Year.
